6 Pet Peeves I Have

Pet Peeves

Happy Thursday Y’all!! I saw this idea for a post on breakfastatlillys.com who is currently participating in an October Blogging Challenge. I thought well this is a really different blogging topic and I find it interesting to see what people’s pet peeves are. So here are (some) of mine.

  1. Being stuck in traffic. I hate traffic! It makes me crazy. Seriously.
  2. People who chew with their mouths open. I can not stand to hear people smacking, chewing their food, etc. Just close your mouth already, please and thank you.
  3. Getting interrupted while I am talking. Don’t get me wrong I am guilty of it to sometimes (when I get overly excited) but when people won’t shut their mouths long enough for you to even speak….that’s annoying.
  4. When people cough with their mouths open. This is a big no no! I know you want to share your germs with me but thanks I am good without them.
  5. People who don’t use their blinkers when driving. I think this is one of my biggest pet peeves while driving. It’s really not that hard to use your blinker people. Just do it already!
  6. When people bump into you and don’t say excuse me. Am I that hard to see? I think not. Manners are a big plus.Use them! It will save me from being rude and saying very loudly “Excuse You”.

What are your pet peeves?

Ugh NOBODY uses their blinker in California and it drives me insane! That is definitely one of my top ones as well!

Mckenna here in houston they don’t use their blinkers either. It drives my insane as well. I’m like they are not put in your car for nothing!

Ha ha, so rude! People should always excuse themselves. And the blinkers, I’m from Montreal they are rarely used there, it really threw me off once I moved to Ontario where they actually use them! In Quebec turning on your blinkers tells all those behind you to hit the gas as fast as they can so you can’t get in, in Ontario people slow down almost to a STOP to let you in!

I agree Hil that people should always excuse themselves. When I moved to TX it became clear that using blinkers was not important. I’ve gotten a little more used to people not using them but it still drives me insane. They are there for a reason people. Please use them.

Manners are huge for me too. I’m totally with you! You know what else drives me crazy? No RSVPing to an event or not sending a thank you card after someone gives you a present. I guess I’m old fashioned that way.

    • sweetteaandhydrangeas wrote:

Shann I totally didn’t think of those!! That drives me crazy as well. If I put every single pet peeve of mine out there….it would be a long list. I doubt anyone would want to read them all. Lol.

Add “people who cannot merge into traffic” and the driving pet peeve list is perfect. Drivers who come to a DEAD STOP are an epidemic in the SF Bay area. Yes, dead stop. As in “I’m not moving until there is a quarter-mile opening for me and my 10-year old Lexus.”

Rae these are all my pet peeves as well. I hate when people stop 10 cars in between them and the next car. I’m like what are you doing!!! I’m sure they can see me behind them throwing my hands in the air like why?

Being interrupted KILLS me. I cant stand it! I love my husband’s family so much, dont get me wrong, but they do this ALL THE TIME. His family is 95% female and they all love to talk. I’ll be in the middle of a sentence and someone will interrupt me. Most times I just stay silent because it’s just not possible to jump in unless I interrupt. My mother in law told me that I’ll get used to it and that if I want to talk then I just need to do it. It drives me insane haha I just cant be and wont be that rude.

Keating I can understand being interrupted sometimes but if it’s consistent, it drives me insane. I don’t know how you do it with a family that always interrupts. I agree though, when someone keeps on interrupting me I just stop and they are like oh I’m sorry.Well i am done now, no need to bother to hear what I had to say anyway.

I’m pretty sure all of your pet peeves are my pet peeves! I hate when people don’t use their turn signal. I especially hate when I am stuck in traffic and people decide to jump in my lane without using their turn signal! grr

Lexi that’s awesome that you have the same pet peeves. I feel that a lot of accidents, etc could possibly be prevented by people using their blinkers. It just drivers me nuts! Yes traffic jumpers….they are the worst. It’s like okay…we have been sitting here in traffic and you want to do this now…No.

  9. Okay I have a toddler and I hate when people sneeze or cough on their hands and then ask to see her or when the sneeze or cough at her face. It kills me! Seriously my pet peeve- glad Im not the only one out there.

    • sweetteaandhydrangeas wrote:

Melissa I feel the same way. I know when I sneeze I go and wash my hands or use some type of hand sanitizer before I touch anything/anyone else. I get that from my mom. So you are not the only one. 🙂

  10. I hear ya on these! My husband hates open-mouthed chewing and I get annoyed when people cough into their hands. That’s what your elbow is for, you know? I teach middle school so pretty much everything on this list (minus traffic, unless crazy hallways during passing periods count) happens to me on a daily basis. Gotta love it!

Open mouthed chewing drives me insane Lauren. I can understand if it’s a young kid but when it is an adult…no. Just no. I remember how crazy the hallways were when I went to school and it was annoying. I wanted to be like please keep moving!

DT it drives me insane when people chew with their mouths open. I understand sometimes it can’t be helped but for those people who can close their mouth while eating, it’s a must.

I can relate to all of them!! I would add people who sneeze without covering their mouths!! Their spreading germs all over the place! And people who don’t spell words right often.

That is a good one too Rosalyn!! I’m like well I guess you needed to spread your germs around.

I think driving in general is a major pet peeve. I can’t stand it when people don’t know how to merge… Or go so slow.

or people who don’t clean up after their animal

I agree Chel. Driving is a pet peeve for most people. Oh merging….how much fun it is when people don’t how to do that properly.
