Happy Sunday Y’all! I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend so far! Today I wanted to bring you a little piece of my home: New Orleans better known as The Big Easy.
Now of course I’m sure all of you have heard about Bourbon Street and may even have some stories to tell from visiting (let’s be honest…who doesn’t). But today, I wanted to show you the fun outside of Bourbon Street. So sit back, relax and Laissez les bon temps roulez (let the good times roll).
Things To Do:
Take a tour of St. Louis Cemetery (#1): This is one of the oldest cemeteries in New Orleans. Here you can visit the grave of Marie Laveau. There is a lot of walking to be done, so be prepared, especially if you visit in the summer.
Visit the Cresent City Farmers Market: I would suggest doing this on a Saturday morning. This is completely free and you may just get lucky and see demonstrations of New Orleans style cooking.
Walk around the French Quarter: While walking around the Quarter, you’ll be able to visit local shops and places to eat.
Jackson Square: Going to Jackson Square, you’ll have a lot of great photo opportunities. There are several museums, shops and see St. Louis Cathedral.
Now on to the best things about New Orleans (well actually Louisiana in general). The FOOD! Here are some of my favorite places to eat:
Mothers: From breakfast to dinner Mother’s is the place to be! Rather you’re looking to eat breakfast or want some good southern comfort food, they have you covered.
Parkway Bakery If you’re looking for a great po’ boy, look no further! They have over 20 different kinds of po’ boys to choose from.
Deanie’s Seafood: One of the best places to experience the best seafood.
Dragos: I am an oyster lover and Drago’s is by far my favorite place to eat them at. Their charboiled oysters are to die for!
Café Du Monde: Only the best place to eat Beignets! Who doesn’t love a fried piece of dough, covered in powdered sugar?
Of course the next best thing to the good would be the Alcohol! Here are the best places for a some great cocktails.
Pat O’Briens: You have to try their famous Hurricanes.
The Carousel Bar at Hotel Monteleone: Not sure if you’ve ever been to a bar that rotates while you drink but this one does!
Johnny Whites: Hand’s down one of my favorite places to get Bloody Mary’s.
Now there are so many more things to do, eat and drink in New Orleans but these are the best places I recommend! Hope you enjoyed!
