Happy Monday Y’all! For week 5 of the 52 Week Blog Challenge, I am writing about Why I Started Blogging. I did a previous post about this back in October but I am going to add a little to it.
Before I had started blogging, I was obsessed with reading other blogs. I loved being able to read what bloggers had to share about their day-to-day life events. The best part about reading blogs is that I always learned something new. Who doesn’t love being able to read about different ways to style outfits, product reviews or just being able to relate to an event that occurred in the bloggers life.
I began blogging in March 2015 (I can’t believe that I’ve been blogging for almost a year now). I had been talking to one of my girlfriends about wanting to start a blog and she was like me too! Once we had a game plan together we began thinking of posts to write and took off from there. We both wanted to be able to share our love for beauty, fashion and everything in between. So at the time when Sweet Tea & Hydrangeas was started, I had a co-blogger. It was great being able to start a blog together because we were both so scared to blog because we were unsure of what was to come. Of course after blogging for a few months together, we decided that we wanted to have our own blogs. I am so glad that I decided to take that leap because it has been well worth it.
I love being able to have my own little space that is mine. The blog is my outlet to express myself by sharing my thoughts and experiences. I also enjoy being able to interact with other’s through my blog. I know not everyone will read my blog or care what I have to but if one person reads my blog and enjoys it, that makes me happy. Blogging brings me a lot of joy. I am so proud of how much Sweet Tea & Hydrangeas has grown. Now with that being said…
In the 11 months that I have been blogging, I have learned that blogging is not easy by any means. It takes a lot of work and time. Something I didn’t quite realize when I first started this blog. My fears of no one liking or reading my blog has went away, along with a lot of my other blogging fears.
So that’s why I started blogging. If you’re a blogger why did you start blogging? If you’re not a blogger, have you though about starting a blog?
For me, blogging is about having my own little creative corner in the universe. Whether it includes talking about beauty subjects, motherhood, inspirational subjects, or creating crafts and recipes, I like being able to have my own little space to just be myself and write about what I love. Great post!
Cara I feel the same way! I love having my own little space that is mine. I enjoy that I get to share what is on my mind with others and hopefully influence someone else. 🙂
I enjoyed reading this! I first started blogging to boost my vintage store, and over time my blog shifted to include lots of posts about vintage and nostalgic topics that I really love. I really like what you wrote: “I love being able to have my own little space that is mine.”
Thank You Trish! I am happy that you enjoyed it! That’s awesome that you incorporated more blog posts into your store! I really love having my own space here. It’s mine and I get to decorate and put whatever I want on it. Which is always nice. 🙂
This is such a fun blogging challenge! I blog because I enjoy the connections I’ve been able to make and I want to share my passions and interests with others. I’m also surprised at how much time it really takes but it’s ok, because I enjoy it =)
Jacquelyn blogging is a lot of fun! I also enjoy being able to make connections with others while sharing what i’m passionate about. Blogging really does take a lot of time but I enjoy it!
I love having a creative space of my own. No rules, just what I feel like sharing that day. It’s really refreshing and also a great way to keep up with friends and family since we’ve moved away.

Erin I love having my own space as well. I love being able to write down what I feel like that day and share it. It’s great that you use your blog to keep up with friends and family after you moved. I love that!
This looks like so much fun!! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Amanda it is a lot of fun! It’s a great challenge that makes you think!
Fun challenge! I’m like you–my blog started as a creative outlet and a way for me to have a voice. It’s constantly evolving, and it’s exciting to discover where it can lead. Keep it up!!
Anne I love this blog challenge! It’s a lot of fun and gets me thinking. I think for most bloggers having a creative outlet is why they started blogging. There are so many blogs that may be similar to each other but they each have a different perspective. Since I started blogging I have evolved a lot. I think blogging is great!
I often check from time to time and today I’m glad I did! I love your blog I hope we connect together again. I miss texting you and talking to you. I hope you have great success with your blog. I have never regretted once starting our sweet tea and hydrangeas. I think both of our blogs are doing fabulous and I’m so glad we pushed each other.
I am also glad that we pushed each other to start blogging! We both learned a lot from the experience. I am happy that we have both been successful with our own blogs. We have come a long way since the beginning. 🙂
I really enjoy reading your post. I have been blogging for more than one year but on my new site I’ve started on July 2015. I’ve started blogging because I’ve been a stay at home mom for 12 years and I needed something else which connected to the real world…
I’m so glad you enjoyed reading my post. That’s great that you started your blog as an outlet to connect with the world after being an at home mom for 12 years. 🙂
This challenge seems like a lot of fun! Thank you for sharing your story! I enjoy reading other blogs as well! I am a blogger because I love to write and I am passionate about a minimalist lifestyle. I figured why not write about my passion!
Erin it is a lot of fun doing this challenge! It makes you think! I read blogs for hours each day. I learn so much from other bloggers. I agree with you about blogging about your passion. Why not share it with others? 🙂
I always love hearing about why people started their blogs. I actually started mine as an “author” blog, but I found that I didn’t like writing about writing all the time and I really enjoyed talking about other things, so it transitioned into what I write about now. 🙂
Crystal that’s awesome that you started your blog as an “author” blog. It’s great that you took your writing skills and transitioned that into a different blog.
what an awesome challenge ! And I always love finding out why ppl started blogging awesome !!! Love it !
Thank You Laci! It’s a lot of fun! I also enjoy finding out why others started blogging. 🙂
I love hearing a bloggers journey. I just hit two years with my blog and it has flown by! I started my blog for myself, to talk about my obsession with home decor. I have stayed blogging because of the community, support and friendships of other bloggers.
Emily I do as well. It’s nice to see why other bloggers started their journey. I love reading blogs about home decor, etc. It gives me so many ideas on what I want to when I build a new house. 🙂
Congrats on almost a whole year of blogging! I love reading your blog, and it’s so cool to find out more about when you started. I actually started as an outlet when my twins were in the hospital, and it’s grown from there.
Thank You Shann!! I am really excited about it! I can’t believe it’s been almost a year. It has flown by. I am so glad that you enjoy reading my blog. It means a lot to me. I love your blog as well. You are such an amazing person with such a big heart. I am so glad that I found your blog. 🙂
I started blogging because I wanted my own personal space on the internet. Something that felt personal and where I could share my family pictures and adventures. I wanted it to be mine. After about a year I made it more public and started connecting with other bloggers, that’s when this whole blogging world opened up to me. I love that i’ve met some really wonderful women through blogging. The community is awesome!
Leslie I love having my own space on the internet as well. It is mine. That’s awesome that you had a more personal blog and then opened it up to the public. The blogging community has been amazing to me so far and I am so glad that I have been able to connect with other bloggers.
I started blogging because I wanted to start a YouTube channel, but I hate hearing the sound of my own voice! haha. And blogging was the best of both worlds because I could share content without having to hear my voice! LOL
I am with you there, I can’t stand the sound of my own voice either!
Taylor I would love to have a youtube channel but I hate being on camera and the way I look on there. Blogging is a great way to share what you have to say without actually having to put your voice out there. Lol. 🙂
I started blogging because at the time friends and I would constantly be emailing each other recipes to try. So I thought, why not have all these yummy recipes in one place? So it was intended to be a recipe blog for friends and family but it grew from there. I expanded in recent history to talk about a lot more topics than just food and it’s been amazing because I’ve now been invited to test products for people and write about them, and got to participate in a special event previewing a new product by Folgers! I never dreamed what doors could open from having this creative outlet but it’s such a fun and cool adventure.
Emily that’s such a great reason to start a blog! It’s such much easier than constantly emailing back and forth (I am assuming). I love that you expanded into other topics! I would love to be invited to test products, etc for companies. Keep up the great work!
I love this! I started blogging for much the same reason. Thanks for sharing your story!
Thank You Megan! I know a lot of bloggers that have started for the same reasons as you and I. I am so glad I start blogging. 🙂
blogging is something that I love to do because there is someone out there who wants to hear what I have to say so If I can be a voice for them alone I am happy Thanks for this post!
Janella I love your reason why you blog. I also feel the same way about blogging. I hope that I am able to share how I feel, etc and be able to have someone relate to me.
