Valentine’s Day is just two days away. Some may think this holiday is just for couples but for me it’s all about spreading love to those important in your life. Today I’m sharing some date idea’s that you can do with your significant other, girlfriends, family, etc. Because let’s face it Valentine’s Day day is not just for couples.
- Have a game night
- Have a romantic movie marathon
- Take a cooking class/cook together
- Go to a karaoke bar
- See a comedy show
- Visit a local winery or brewery
- Take a painting class
- Go on a hike
- Go to an arcade
- Volunteer at a local shelter
These are just a few idea’s that you can have fun doing. What are some of your favorite date’s to go on for Valentine’s Day?
I think a painting class would be so much fun! We may be hitting up the arcade for Valentine’s Day, and probably later on going to the beach…
Rachel I love taking painting classes (though I am far from a great painter). I love going to arcades (even when it’s not on Valentines Day). The beach sounds like a lot of fun!
I would be all about a romantic movie marathon, or even watching a bunch of comedies would be fun! Great ideas! 🙂
Thank You Cara! I love romantic movies, especially Nicholas Sparks. I am a sucker for his movies. Going to a comedy show or watching funny movies is also a lot of fun. 🙂
I think romantic movie night sounds awesome! If only my husband agreed!
Marylynne maybe you can find a romantic movie that is guy friendly too. 🙂
We usually have a really nice meal at home —-a movie marathon and just being together is a great night for us since my husband travels so much. This year we are making our trip to the beach our Valentine’s date!
Beth I love cooking at home and watching movies for Valentine’s Day. It’s a lot easier than having to deal with the craziness of going out to eat, etc. My boyfriend will not be home for Valentine’s Day, so I will be treating myself to something good. I hope you enjoy your trip to the beach! I am jealous!
I’d be happy if he remembered!
Aww Suzi! Drop him some hints!
I wanted to take a painting class…but Hubby has NO DESIRE– he’s be thrilled with the arcade idea—actually we both would have a blast; WE are just BIG KIDS =) We usually do a game night with the kids, and then out to dinner later that week.
I love going to Painting With A Twist classes! Maybe you can convince your husband to do a class soon. 😉 We also love going to arcades because we are big kids too.
A karaoke bar sounds like a lot of fun. We have a new one in Kansas City!
Kelsie I can not sing what so ever but it’s still a lot of fun to go and do karaoke! 🙂
Love these ideas. I’ve actually never been to a comedy show, so that I definitely something I wouldn’t mind doing 🙂

Clothes & Quotes
Thank You Shannon! I’ve been to a few comedy shows and really enjoyed them. 🙂
We’re planning a super non traditional Valentine’s Day this year – a gymnastics meet at our local university and then drinks at a fancy speakeasy-type bar. Should be a lot of fun!
What wonderful ideas, I love the idea of a karaoke bar! that’d definitely break the ice if its a first date

A movie marathon sounds like heaven to me right now! These are great ideas!
A comedy show is the best idea – what better than exercising your laughing gear and getting those endorphins flowing before returning home for cuddles!

Such a cute little list! I’m definitely seeing an arcade date in our future. Hope you have an amazing weekend!
Thank You Amber! I love going to the arcade! It’s so much fun! I hope you had an amazing weekend as well and having a great day!
My husband and I will definitely be hitting up a brewery this weekend, because why not!? I love the ideas of taking a class and volunteering together…those are definitely not traditional Valentine’s Day activities. Thanks for sharing!
Lori I have never been to a brewery but I heard that they are a lot of fun! I wanted to come up with different ideas for valentine’s day dates. I also think they would be fun to do when it’s not valentine’s day.
Adorable date ideas! I think you’d love some of the affordable gifts I found would pair super cute with these! bit.ly/20vdaygifts
Thank You Danielle! I wanted to put together a list of different date ideas that most couples, etc do not think of doing.
I just posted a similar post – actually we had a lot of the same ideas! I wish I could convince my husband to take a class or go to a wine tasting but he hates wine!
Kalyn that’s awesome that we have similar ideas! My boyfriend actually enjoys wine which is great because I love wine too. Maybe you can get your husband to take a class with you soon. 🙂
my favorite date night is a winery visit 🙂 sometimes Steve and I do a ‘homemade wine tour’ where we get a couple different wines and cheeses to try.
Kara I love wine and of course cheese. I love the idea of a “homemade wine tour”! 🙂
All these dates are perfect for a fun Valentine’s Day. I like the idea of a game night! Thank you for sharing!
Thank You Ashleigh! I wanted to do a list that was a little different. 🙂
These are such fun ideas! I would love to go paint with my husband- I’m a horrible painter but oh my gosh so fun! Out typical plans are usually a nice dinner and then watching one of our favorite movies! Happy v-day! Xx
Kristin I am not great at painting either but it’s so much fun! My boyfriend and I for the past few years have cooked dinner at home and watched movies as well. I hope you had a great valentine’s day!
These are such good ideas. I think my boyfriend and I are going to go on a hike and have a picnic. Then at night maybe dinner and go home and watch a movie. 🙂
Thank You Christine! Going on a hike is so relaxing (most of the time) and I love having picnics! Watching movies on valentine’s day is a tradition for my boyfriend and I.
These are all great ideas!
I’d love to volunteer — that sounds right up my alley.
xoxo, Jenny
Thank You Jenny! I enjoy volunteering as well! It’s always great to give back.
Oh a cooking class sounds amazing!! I will totally have to look up ones in my area! Great ideas!
Angela I have been wanting to take a cooking class with my boyfriend, so I thought it would be a fun idea for a date night idea. I know that Sur La Table typically does them. Not sure if you have one in your area but you should look them up. 🙂
I love the idea of taking a cooking class together. I wish there were places by us that offered them. I would also love to go to a winery but J isn’t a big drinker so I feel like it would end up me drinking and getting tipsy alone haha
Sarah I really want to take a cooking class with my boyfriend. I know the Sur La Table does it by us. Maybe you can find a place to take cooking class near by you. We visited three wineries last year and had such a good time. I am not going to lie, I got a good bit tipsy. But still a lot of fun going!
Volunteering to together is such an awesome idea. Thanks for the great list.
Tish I think it’s always a great thing to give back by volunteering. I’m glad you enjoyed my list.
Karaoke…I could only get my fiancé to do that if he was really, really drunk!!! LOL
Chelsea you should try to get him drunk! Lol. Karaoke is a lot of fun, even though I can not sing good at all.
aww I love that you put volunteering somewhere – its always nice to give back, and even better to do it with someone you love <3
Miche from Buttons and Birdcages
Miche it’s a lot of fun to be able to give back to others. One of my favorite things is to go to nursing homes.
These are great ideas! I’m celebrating Galentine’s Day with my girlfriends today!
Thank You Audrey! I want to do a Galentine’s Day next year with my girlfriends! I’ve seen a lot of great ideas for throwing the get together. 🙂
for me it’s a day like any other
Those are not only great suggestions, they are all ideas I would love to do with hubby!
Cynthia I am glad that you liked my suggestions! I hope that you were able to do something fun for Valentine’s Day with your husband! These are even great date ideas when it’s not Valentine’s Day. 🙂
These are great ideas! I think a painting date would be my favorite.
Thank You Theresa! I love doing painting classes! I’ve done three before and had a blast!
Such fun ideas! I’m still not feeling good, so a Valentine’s nap is all that’s happening for me. Hope you’re having a great day!
Thank You Shann! I hope you feel better soon! My valentine’s day was very uneventful. My boyfriend and I ate dinner at home and watched a movie. Though it was uneventful, I enjoyed the quietness.
I love the karaoke bar idea! We always do something at home but somehow I talked the husband into taking me to a movie last night 🙂
Neely I am so bad at singing but karaoke is always a lot of fun! My boyfriend and I have been spending the past few Valentine’s Day at home. I actually enjoy it.
I love the idea of a game night! Board games are my jam. 🙂
Julia, I love board games as well!!! I enjoy game nights a lot!
We love game nights with the boys! Also a night at one of the BYOB painting places would be so much fun too 🙂
Dana I love game nights!!! I get a little competitive though. I’ve done a few BYOB painting classes and had a blast doing it.
Hiking is one of my fave activities to do with my boyfriend! We also went to a comedy show once and it was so fun, I’d love to do that again.
Chelsea I enjoy a nice relaxing hike! It’s a lot of fun and a great way to spend time with your significant other, etc. It’s been awhile since we’ve been to a comedy show as well.
