This week for week 4 of the 52 Week Blog Challenge is all about money. I will admit there are certain things that I spend a lot of my money on. Some things are essentials for me to live and others….well my boyfriend would beg to differ. Here are my top five things that I spend money on!
- Sushi. My addiction to sushi is so bad. I literally could eat it everyday but then I would be broke. So I typically eat it once a week.
- MakeUp. The struggle is real y’all. As much makeup as I have, I can never pass up a new palette or collection.
- Clothes. Yes clothes are essential but it’s hard not to buy all the cute dresses I see.
- Shoes. I own probably about 50+ pair of shoes (heels, flats, running, etc). When I see a cute pair of heels, especially when they are on sale, it’s hard to resist.
- Books. I have so many books on my bookshelf that I have yet to read but I love books.
Now there are a lot more things that I spend my money on but these are the one’s that make my bank account a little lower. What do you spend your money on?
In this season of pregnancy, the majority of my money is going to sweets and banana pudding. No joke!
Marci I love banana pudding!! It’s a weakness of mine when it comes to desserts!
I seem to spend my money on the same things every week too. Mostly food for the family but for me it is books & beauty products!
xoxo Mickey http://www.mybashfullife.com/ My Bashful Life
Mickey I can not stay away from beauty products. It’s so hard to not spend money on it. Though I have been doing fairly well this month with not buying a lot of makeup. Next month will probably be a completely different story.
These are ALL of my weaknesses haha especially makeup! Even though I have an ENTIRE ROOM dedicated to what I already have, I always need more 😉
Shaylee I swear I could open up a small makeup store with everything I have. My boyfriend is like do you really need more makeup? Yes, I do. 🙂
I used to spend all my money on clothes and shoes for myself, now it’s things for the boys. When they were smaller, it was all cute clothes, but now that they are such a mess, I just get them toys and cheaper clothes that can handle being washed A LOT. 😉
Shann you def need to spoil yourself with some new clothes and shoes. I know you’ve worked really hard with your weight loss. I do understand though that the boys need clothes as well. I can just imagine how much laundry you have to do. 🙂
Books. I spend a lot of money on books. Although, I started subscribing to amazon unlimited, so now at least I have a larger selection than what my library offered!
Heather I think I am signed up for amazon unlimited. I am not sure if I am anymore. I like reading books on my tablet and having the hard copy as well.
Running clothes/shoes/other random running-related things, running races, food! LOL there’s a theme here.
Jill there is def a theme there! But that’s awesome that you spend your money on things that improve your help (by you running).
Super cute blog. I love the content too. Thanks for sharing.
Thank You Sue!
I love trying new beauty products too. I have so many lipsticks and still there are more colors I want to try.
Catherine I am the same way! I can not tell you how many lipsticks I have. It’s unreal. I have so much makeup and beauty products.
When you read “Why Not Me?” you’ll have to do a book review. I’ve been so tempted to pick it up, I’d love to hear what you think. Right now we spend money on very little because we are pushing through the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace Baby Steps. But soon, very soon, I can spend some money 🙂
Renee, I will be doing a book review on “Why Not Me” when I finish it. So be on the look out for it. I have been trying to cut back on my spending over the last few months and I have been doing fairly well. Good luck with your Dave Ramsey Financial steps!
I have the same struggles, don’t feel bad! Especially on clothes and makeup. 🙂
Cara it is so hard to not spend my money on clothes and makeup. I have been doing really good so far this month so far. I have a feeling though, once spring gets here….I will be broke.
Food, books and crafting is where my money goes.
Candy a lot of my money goes to food as well. It’s essential for me. I used to spend a lot of money on scrapbooking but have not done it in so long!
I find it so funny that we have the same top 5 spending habits! There’s a sushi place right by my house that half my check should automatically go to lol. Shoes could possibly be switched out for with hair products lately.
Marissa I typically eat sushi once a week. If I could I would eat it more than once a week but sometimes funds don’t always allow that. It’s so good though! I haven’t bought too many pairs of shoes recently but for awhile I was on a boot buying kick. Now that it’s starting to warm up again, I’m sure it will be back to buying heels, etc. 🙂
I definitely spend way too much money on fitness classes. There are so many affordable workout options out there but I love taking all of the fun unique classes.

Kari that’s a great way to spend your money! I love taking zumba classes though my gym doesn’t offer it anymore.
Those are all pretty enjoyable ways to spend money, especially the books and sushi!
Lauren I could not agree more. I love sushi and could eat it every day (almost) and I love a good book. 🙂
Great post! Have you started Mindy’s book yet? It’s super funny. 🙂 I love the concept of the 52 week challenge and can’t wait to read more of your posts!

Thank You Amanda! I have started Mindy’s book. I am on the 2nd chapter currently, so not too far into it. It is pretty good so far. You should join us in the challenge. It’s a lot of fun!
I always find it interesting what other people spend money on. Everyone is so different. Not including food/rent etc. mine would be
1. Furniture
2. My Cats
3. SmartThings
4. Windows Gadgets
5. Towels/placemats/etc
Kari I agree that it is always interesting to see what other’s spend their money on. I spend a lot of money on my dogs too. If I had more room to buy more furniture for my house I would. I can’t wait to build a house in the future to have more furniture.
Girl, I’m with you on the shoes! I cannot pass up a cute pair! If I’m having a super bad day/week DSW or Nordstroms here I come! I have 6 totes under my bed with shoes and a huge basket in the closet with more shoes! They are the best! Loved the post!
Jenn I have a lot of shoes as well. I have a compartment that has three shelves on it and they are jammed packed with shoes! I really should go through my shoes and get rid of some, so I can make more room for new ones. 🙂
Splendid dirt! My mom bought my sister and I that mask and I used mine up in no time- I have acne and it helped a lot! Is that the pumpkin one?
Shannon it is the pumpkin one! I love it as well. I had heard about it by reading another blog, so I purchased several of their products. I am not disappointed!
Love this – what a great idea! I want to do a blog challenge! LOL

Krista
Krista, you should join in with us for the blog challenge!! It’s a lot of fun!
I used to go nuts for shoes, nail polish, and lipstick. Now, I can’t seem to pass up plants. I want my house to be a jungle, but my husband doesn’t… so… I have to really practice restraint. hahaha!
Lana that’s so funny that you went from shoes, nail polish & lipstick to plants! But I understand that you want your house to be very green and jungle like. 🙂
I’ve been spending way too much money on makeup lately, but I can’t resist!
It’s so hard not to spend money on makeup! I’ve done pretty well with refraining myself this month but most of the time, I am taking several trips a month to ulta.
#2, #3, #4… I have issues with all of those too haha! And the It’s a 10 hair stuff is the BEST – worth every penny!
Claire it’s so hard not to spend money on those things! I absolutely love It’s a 10! It’s been a game changer when it comes to my hair. I love it!
Food and travelling. Both are essential so cannot cut the expenses down. x
http://www.theprettycitygirl.com/
Rutuja I agree with that. I love traveling and I do spend a good bit of money doing it and of course food, you have to have.
What a fun challenge! I would spend money on sushi and books too… mmm… sushi. 😉
Cassandra, it is a lot of fun doing this challenge! You should join in with us! I love sushi! It is one of my weaknesses when it comes to eating.
Cute boots! I love Mindy and really need to pick up her book.
Thank You Tiara! I just started reading her book, so I am not far into yet. It seems to be pretty good so far.
Oh man…shoes, clothes and makeup, I am totally guilty!! I am so tempted to buy makeup and half the time I have something similar at home already. The struggle is real. LOL
Jia I am the same way! I have so many different palettes that have all similar colors but I need new one’s all the time. Makeup is my weakness for sure!
Travel. Lots and lots of travel! That’s seriously my major weakness when it comes to our budget–I’m not so much into clothes or makeup, so I’ll horde my pennies for my upcoming trips! 😀
Natalie, I love to travel as well! I typically take at least 2 vacations a year.
